What level of fitness is required to participate?

There is no pre-requisite fitness level required. The week is aimed at improving your fitness and health, no matter what your level. However, some experience and knowledge of the movements used in a strength and conditioning program like CrossFit ® is a must.

How much training is there?

We schedule two workout sessions a day; usually a cardio session and a skills session, combined with the workout of the day. You can do as much or as little exercise as you like; the equipment is available 24/7 and there are lots of opportunities to run/swim/hike in your spare time.

Can you accommodate my dietary needs?

We can accommodate a wide variety of needs. Please highlight your specific needs with us during the booking process.

I can’t swim. Can I still participate?

Yes, of course. None of the workouts we do require you to swim. If you’re not confident in the water, the sea can just be a beautiful backdrop for your workout.

I have an injury/I’ve recently been ill. Can I still participate?

You should always seek and follow the advice of your physician about what and how much you can do. We’ll ask you about your health and fitness during the booking process. Injury and illness need not be a barrier to joining the trip, but we’ll want to discuss the specifics of your situation to make sure you’ll be able to get the most from the trip without making your condition any worse.

When should I book my flights?

We advise you to book your flights as soon as you receive confirmation that your trip is definitely running. (Once we reach the minimum number to make a trip viable, we guarantee departure and immediately send out an email to all participants to let them know.) If you are flying same-day, you need to arrive in Split on the morning of your departure date so that we can make the catamaran over to Lastovo.

What documents and visas do I need?

Generally, citizens of the EU, USA, Canada and Australia can enter for tourist purposes with just a valid passport (or ID document for EU nationals) but you should still check to confirm the current situation for your nationality. All other countries’ citizens should check to see their requirements and apply for any visa through the local Croatian embassy.

You should also make sure your passport/ID document is valid for at least the length of your time in Croatia - ideally for a while after too.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. Travel insurance is mandatory for all our travellers and should be taken out at the time of booking. Your travel insurance should cover you for the usual CrossFit-type activities such as gymnastics and weight-lifting as well as (if you enjoy the water) water-sports such as swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding. With most holiday insurance, these items are not included in the base policy, but are usually part of the first-level "activities" upgrade.

Your insurance must provide cover against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation with a recommended minimum coverage of £2,000,000 for each of the categories of cover. We also strongly recommend it covers cancellation, curtailment, personal liability and loss of luggage and personal effects. You must provide proof of your travel insurance no later than 7 days prior to the trip taking place, failure to do so will mean you will not be able to join the trip.

What should I bring?

Packing light is usually best. Bring a selection of workout gear and casual clothes for warm weather. (There are no formal nights!) A pair of long trousers and a long-sleeved top are good for the cooler evenings though, when there are mosquitoes around.

We’ll send you a suggested packing list about a month before departure.

What are the excursions?

We run several, included, excursions around the island. Our trips usually include a short walking tour of historic Lastovo town, along with outings to some of the island’s more scenic spots via boat or car. These trips include a chance to either chill, hike or do some swimming/snorkelling. Details of the excursions we've prepared for your departure will be included in the itinerary we send about a month before departure.

What else is there to do on the island?

Lastovo is a peaceful and scenic place; this isn’t the holiday for you if you want late-night clubbing and a hotel concierge. The island is hilly, with several small settlements, it’s dotted with shallow blue bays and long white-pebble beaches. You can hire a scooter or a mountain bike if you want to explore, or just order a coffee or a beer at one of the restaurants around the bay and watch the boats on the water.

Can I extend my trip?

We run one-week packages at the moment, but if you have the time, Croatia is certainly worth a longer stay. The catamaran we take to/from Split also calls at Hvar and Korčula and they are both worth visiting. The towns of Split and Dubrovnik, are packed with history and views. They recently served as settings for some of the Game of Thrones filming. Check out the Croatian Tourist Board site for ideas: http://croatia.hr/en-GB

Can I meet you in Split or on Lastovo?

Yes, Croatia is a beautiful place so, if you want to spend a few days exploring before joining the group, that’s fine. Let us know your plans and we’ll arrange to rendezvous either in central Split or at the accommodation on Lastovo.

Can I reserve all the spaces on the trip for my group?

We always want to make sure everyone has the best time on our trips. So, if there’s no-one else already booked, then yes. Drop us a message about your group and when you’d like to travel and we’ll agree with you whether your group can join an existing date or whether we’ll set up a departure especially for you.
